Choose artwork you love and a size that fits your space and pace. Small and large canvases use the same simple technique.
What makes a good first project?
Make it your kind of project. A larger canvas gives you more artwork to enjoy, not a different skill to learn. Start with a design you love and work on one section at a time.
Choose a palette you love. More colors mean more sorting and switching. The placement technique stays the same, so a colorful design can still be your first.
Choose your diamond shape. Round diamonds leave small spaces between them for a softly textured, sparkling finish. Square diamonds fit snugly edge to edge, helping neighboring diamonds guide one another into alignment. Some people find that natural fit easier, with less precise positioning needed as a section fills. Both shapes are a great place to start. Choose the artwork and finish you love.

What is diamond painting?
Diamond painting is the craft of setting tiny 100% resin diamonds onto a velvety canvas, one sparkling facet at a time. You place each diamond on a printed symbol, and the finished piece can be framed, hung, or gifted. This luminous craft is also called diamond art.

Prepare your canvas and diamond drills
After opening your diamond painting kit, you will see all the supplies needed to complete the diamond painting. Next, peel back a small section of the clear film to reveal the adhesive, keeping the rest of your canvas covered.

Find the symbol on your canvas that matches a specific diamond color
Find the bag with the matching color code, and carefully pour a few diamonds into your tray. Gently shake the tray back and forth to help the diamonds spread out and settle with faceted side up.

Place your diamonds and watch your picture sparkle
Press the diamond onto its matching symbol and work one small section at a time as your picture takes shape. When you pause, cover the canvas and return unused diamonds to their labeled bags.
