After a fire burned down her first gallery in Fortuna, CA and Covid closed the second in nearby Ferndale, Ms. Daetwiler packed up her family and moved to Maine. There, with her nine chickens and a dog, she paints things the way she sees them, creating windows into other worlds through imaginative storytelling. She is a self taught artist whos work often contains hidden elements and a twist or two if you look closely.

Dakota never disappoints, and this color palette and theme are always a win around here! I typically look forward to getting to the end and finishing paintings because when you paint something bigger, you’re always relieved to get the end. This was the exception and I was sad to see her finished! She is definitely one that will be framed and hung.
