This was my first attempt at a square-drill canvas, so forgive the misalignment and a drills that should have been pushed into place. I definitely learned from it, and now I’m already working on my third square canvas — a 60×60 cm piece. I’d heard square drills could be challenging, so I decided to start small.
The experience was completely different from working with round drills, and I struggled a bit at first. But then I heard that satisfying crunchy clicking sound unique to squares, and I was hooked. Now I can’t wait to do more.
I especially love working on portraits. Personally, I think this canvas was a little too small to fully do the image justice, but for what I wanted — practice and getting comfortable with square drills — it was absolutely perfect.
