Christopher Lovell
Christopher Lovell is a self-taught, Welsh artist - based in the UK - who grew up on sci-fi, cartoons, fantasy books and toys. The nostalgia of these still triggers his imagination and pours into his art. As a traditional, fantasy artist, Christopher built his career designing illustrations for bands and T-shirt companies, and is now focusing on his own personal work, creating art without limitations. His hope is to build an educational platform that will inspire like-minded artists to develop their skills and pursue their own careers in art.

My First Mystery Kit!
I love Christopher Lovell's work, so I decided to try my hand at a mystery kit. I absolutely loved the process of revealing the image drill by drill. I will say that I had a lot of issues with spacing between the drills. I'm not sure if the grid was odd or if the drills were shaped oddly or if it was just that all the dark colors on a white/blue/orange background caused the gaps to be extremely noticeable, but I was a little frustrated with the spacing. It's not noticeable from a distance, but up close, it made me feel like I wasn't doing a good job of keeping my drills straight. The main focus of the image is also a lot of the same colors just in varying shades, so the details are a bit difficult to pick out at a glance. Overall, though, this was a fun project, and I'me excited to do more mystery kits.

Drill trouble
A lot of the drills aren't the same size so there's a lot of gaps in between in my diamonds. I'm still excited to see what the picture will end up being but it's a little confusing to figure out what shape is where due to each square having different colors throughout it. I think its to help throw you off in what the picture will end up looking like but my brain hurts a little when im working on it

How to use
This meditative craft involves placing hundreds of sparkling resin rhinestones, one-by-one, on an adhesive color-coded canvas to create a vivid, shimmering work of art.
Step 1
Dip the tip of the applicator tool into the strip of wax
Step 2
Pick up each diamond by pressing the applicator to the diamond’s rounded, faceted side
Step 3
Apply each diamond to the adhesive canvas template, placing it based on the color-coded chart
