I’ve finished several DAC kits and love the quality, which is why didn’t expect problems with this one. The finished kit is beautiful and I would not discourage anyone from getting this one, it was just less enjoyable due to a couple problems.
My first issue was with the canvas having lots of slick areas that just will not hold drills. Following advice I found online (from sources other than DAC), I tried leaving cover sheet off overnight to “cure” glue but this made it worse. Used alcohol to try to “clean” or reactivate drill area. This did not make it worse, but failed to help.
My second issue is that I have run out of 5 different drills without any spills on my part. I’ve dropped drills before and I think I may have run out of one without spilling for a couple of different kits, but haven’t experienced running out of multiple drills for one kit (and a small kit too). Of course, DAC customer service is amazing and sent needed drills…. Even in the middle of BF/CM! I typically think my kitting down and saving drills is wasted time but I was really happy I’ve done this as it gave me needed back ups so I didn’t have to order more of everything I ran out of.
I’m hopeful this is a “one-off” and that I don’t have another one like this. The finished kit is really nice, very bright, and was fun to work on as I love confetti.
