Tier 2: A Dazzling Display in a Few Hours
Sparkle Pals™ and Mini Easels kits are in Tier 2, the natural next step when you are ready to devote a little more time to a project. Most kits in this tier have a drill count between 500 and 1,300 drills – which translates loosely to 2 to 4 hours of work. For many crafters, this may still be a same-day project, and it rewards a longer sitting with something you'll want to put on display.

Round diamond drills are easier to place and let the canvas peek through in tiny gaps around their edges, while square diamond drills require a bit more precision to place but cover the canvas completely. How long does a mini diamond painting kit take to complete?
The time it takes to complete mini diamond art kits for beginners depends on that kit’s drill count and size. The three tiers we’ve created are there to help you see which types of kits have the fewest drills to place. Tier 1 Diamond Art Club® stickers and keychain kits (200 to 700 drills) have projects you can finish in under an hour. Mini Easels and Sparkle Pals™ (avg. 500-1,000 drills) usually take 2 to 4 hours, making them a same-day project for most crafters. Coasters (avg.1,510 drills per kit) and small Gem Houses (1000-4000 drills) generally take 4 to 6 hours or more, which can easily be spread across two or three evenings.
What's the difference between 3D and 5D diamond painting?
When a diamond painting kit says it is “3D,” it means the resin drills in the kit have 3 facets per side, for a total of 9 facets per drill. If the kit says it is a “5D” diamond painting, its resin gems will have 5 facets per side, for a total of 15 facets. More facets mean more angles for light to reflect off, which is why 5D drills appear to sparkle more in finished diamond art pieces.
