After a fire burned down her first gallery in Fortuna, CA and Covid closed the second in nearby Ferndale, Ms. Daetwiler packed up her family and moved to Maine. There, with her nine chickens and a dog, she paints things the way she sees them, creating windows into other worlds through imaginative storytelling. She is a self taught artist whos work often contains hidden elements and a twist or two if you look closely.

Breathtaking when completed

I did my best to try and get the camera to capture what you see in person. Those iridescent drills just stick out so beautiful. It truly looks like a constellation in your room is about to flight off the canvas.

In terms of the dp process, I didn't actually enjoy this one that much. I had a lot of trash drills and it was a bit gappy. Also, I feel like I'm liking round drills less and less. But the finished result makes it obvious to me that round drills are definitely the way to go with this artwork.

My favorite Myth

Love Pegasus story. Saw the Pegasus Constellation when stargazing at Haleakala in June of 2001. The only month the Southern Skies are available to see. The canvas is beautiful and great to work on. Why not? I am an Astronomy Geek.
