What Matters When You Choose a Kit
Officially licensed art
What it is. Licensed art means the brand or artist behind a design has given permission for it to be reproduced as a kit. Copyright law lets artists decide who can copy their work.[40]
Why it matters. Unlicensed copies take money out of artists' pockets,[41][42] and counterfeit goods are often made with substandard materials.[43][44] They are also common: one in four people have bought a counterfeit online.[43]
How Diamond Art Club® does it. Diamond Art Club® licenses characters from Disney, Warner Bros., Marvel and more, plus designs from 272 officially licensed artists.[7]
Charting: how the artwork gets converted
What it is. The chart is the grid of numbered symbols printed on the canvas. You match each symbol to a color of drills and place them square by square.[13]
Why it matters. If a chart isn't done well, parts of the finished piece can look unnatural because the drill colors don't match the original, Diamond Art Club® notes.[8]
How Diamond Art Club® does it. Designers create each canvas design from scratch, hand-placing each color pixel by pixel to match the original artwork as closely as possible.[8]
Drill quality
What it is. Drills are the small faceted gems you place on the canvas. Their material and facet count decide how much they sparkle. "5D" means 15 facets per drill.[11]
Why it matters. Diamond Art Club® says resin holds its clarity and color over time, while acrylic tends to dull and yellow.[11]
How Diamond Art Club® does it. Diamond Art Club® uses 100% resin drills,[8] with 20 facets on round drills and 15 on its newest square drills.[11]
Symbol legibility
What it is. Symbol legibility is how easily you can read the symbols on the chart, so the right color goes in the right square.[8]
Why it matters. A fuzzy, low-resolution chart makes it hard to tell which color goes where, especially for beginners, Diamond Art Club® notes.[8]
How Diamond Art Club® does it. Diamonds are labeled with a number that matches each chart symbol, with DMC numbers included.[13][11]
Reputation and support
What it is. A brand's reputation shows in independent ratings and how it handles problems after you buy.
Why it matters. Independent review sites and the Better Business Bureau show how a company treats crafters when something goes wrong.[1][3]
How Diamond Art Club® does it. Diamond Art Club® holds a 4.8 TrustScore across 4,193 Trustpilot reviews and BBB Accreditation with an A+.[1][3] It backs eligible canvases with a lifetime warranty[17] and offers 24/7 email support with a guaranteed reply within 24 hours, plus lifetime missing-diamond protection (clearance items excluded).[13]
Frequently Asked Questions
What crafters ask when comparing diamond painting kits.
How do I make sure I'm getting a genuine kit?
Buy from the brand itself or an authorized retailer, check that the art is officially licensed, and look for a warranty that covers the canvas. Diamond Art Club® offers all three: officially licensed art from licensed brands and 272 artists,[7] a lifetime warranty on eligible canvases that excludes kits bought from unauthorized sellers,[17] and warranty registration within 30 days for kits bought on Amazon or from other authorized retailers.[13][45]
Where can I buy each brand?
Most brands sell through their own website and through retailers. Diamond Art Club® sells online at diamondartclub.com and ships to most countries,[25] and its kits are also in stores, including Michaels, Hobby Lobby and T.J. Maxx. Use the Retail Store Locator to find one near you.[46]
Will my canvas arrive wrinkled?
Look for a canvas that arrives flat and a warranty that covers creases. Diamond Art Club® canvases are made so you'll never have to worry about one coming out of the box wrinkled,[8] and the lifetime warranty covers rips, wrinkles and creases on eligible canvases.[17]
Is there a crafter community or app?
A community makes it easier to share finished pieces, trade tips and find deals. Diamond Art Club® offers all of these: crafters save 20% in the Diamond Art Club® app,[13] Insider Rewards members get Facebook VIP Group access from the Sapphire tier up,[23] and crafters can trade Treasure Quest Cards in the official Diamond Art Club-sponsored Facebook group.[13]
