Congratulations, you’ve finished your diamond art project! Now, it’s time to show off your masterpiece to the world—or at least to your house guests. But, you’re probably wondering what to do with your completed piece—how to store finished diamond paintings, frame them, give them as gifts, etc. We’ve got you covered. There are tons of ways to store your works of art. Maybe you don’t yet have a place for your new diamond painting or you’re looking to temporarily store it elsewhere until you give it as a present or move into a new home. Here’s how you can safely store your paintings.

Frame It!

If you’re wondering what to do with a finished diamond painting, the most obvious answer is to put it in a frame and hang it as a decoration. Framing your diamond painting is a relatively easy process. Just be sure to clean off any dirt or dust that may be clinging to the beads before you add the painting to its new frame. When shopping for a frame, measure the painting prior to purchasing and notice if the diamond painting has extra trim around the edges. You may want to cut this area off and find a slightly smaller frame or keep it there for an added visual effect.

Use Foam Board

Sometimes, you’re not quite ready to hang your diamond painting. Maybe you need to find a safe place for it, you’re moving into a new home soon or maybe you’re planning to give it away as a gift. In the meantime, you need to be able to store it safely without ruining the integrity and accidentally knocking off beads. Foam boards are an easy, cheap way to keep your paintings safe after you’ve completed them. You can either use two flat foam boards that are the same size (which should be larger than the size of your painting), or you can invest in one of the foam boards with tri-folds.

To use the two flat foam boards method, simply place your diamond painting on one board and then place the other board on top and use tape to secure the two pieces together. This method is quick and easy, but makes it a bit more difficult to access your paintings. With the trifold foam board, you can lay your painting flat on the large, middle piece and then fold the two sides down to cover the top of the painting. Keep the boards flat while storing the painting. You may want to consider taping the flaps down.

Find a Portfolio Case

Art portfolio cases are designed to protect delicate and potentially valuable works of art. If you want to ensure the safety of your diamond painting and don’t mind investing in something new, look for a portfolio case that is large enough to fit most of your paintings. Art portfolio cases are available in many different sizes and styles, so it’s important to look for ones that make sense for your medium. You can use a piece of cardboard or foam board as a backing for your painting if you want it to slide easily into the compartments and maintain some structure while it’s in the bag.

Make Your Own Portfolio Carrier

If you want to get really creative, you can make your own portfolio carrier. Some of the simplest designs are made from cardboard and duct tape while the more complicated ones involve sewing and fabric. Depending on your crafting ability and your interest in making a portfolio, you can go big and make something durable you’ll use for years to come, or you can simply create a makeshift portfolio to help temporarily store and transport your diamond paintings.

Repurpose Cardboard Boxes

One of the best answers for how to store finished diamond paintings is by reusing cardboard boxes as storage containers. Nearly everyone has at least one or two boxes laying around the house that they don’t use or haven’t gotten around to tossing out yet. Well, instead of shoving it up in the attic to be forgotten about or throwing it in the trash, why not recycle it yourself by using it as diamond painting storage? As long as the box is larger than the paintings, it should make for an excellent safe keeper for your projects. You can even store multiple diamond paintings at one time if you add a layer of plastic between each project.

Keep Your Beautiful Diamond Paintings Safe

Storing your diamond paintings is very important in ensuring that they won’t become damaged or dirty. Even if you’re not planning on hanging up your masterpiece (at least not right away), you should still treat it with care by using one of these methods to store your finished diamond paintings. Buying a portfolio case isn’t necessary. You can simply use everyday materials like cardboard and foam board to create your own unique storage kit.
