James A. Meger couldn’t remember a time in his life that he didn’t want to be an artist. His rural upbringing and his love of nature were the inspirations for his paintings and he often dreamed of combining these loves with a career. After completing his B.F.A., James served as a combat officer in Vietnam for 14 months. Eventually, he ended up teaching back in Minnesota, but he still dreamed of painting. With a lot of outside encouragement, he gave up teaching and six weeks later won the Minnesota State Duck Stamp Competition for 1980. His career took off from that point garnering numerous awards including over 15 Best of Show and Popular Choice awards at major national shows around the country. James died of cancer on August 25, 2011 and is survived by his wife, Laurene; and daughter, Elise.

This picture is just stunning. I loved all the shades of blue and I am very satisfied with the final product. Canvas, rendering and drills are super high quality. Took me about 1 month and a half to complete. A lot of confetti - so I would definitely recommend it to all the confetti lovers out there!

A gorgeous snowy cold winter night in a magical village. Along with and lights, candles, snow and ice, all gleaming and twinkling from a church on Christmas Eve. Thats what I envision every time I lay eyes on my newly finished, Holy Winter Night painting. It was so beautiful and exciting to complete. It has a variety of Color blocking and confetti….just the right mixture. I am so proud of the painting and plan to have it framed. Everything with the kit and drills was just right, with plenty of drills included. ****** this gem if you can :-) Now I am off to my next adventure, painting Elsa, Queen of the North Mountain
