About the artist

Karla Gerard

Karla Gerard is a self-taught artist from Maine, whose work has appeared in magazines, books, galleries and a Warner Bros. movie. Combining folk art with abstract, she finds inspiration in patterns from fabrics, nature, house decor magazines and her dreams. Her colorful, acrylic landscapes and abstracts transport the viewer to an imaginary world filled with crooked houses and swirling trees.

I love this kit and almost done with it. It's my first time working with square drills and the checkerboard technique works very will with this painting since it's mostly color blocking. Almost finish with it and I already found a spot to hang it in my house!

How to use

This meditative craft involves placing hundreds of sparkling resin rhinestones, one-by-one, on an adhesive color-coded canvas to create a vivid, shimmering work of art.

Step 1

Dip the tip of the applicator tool into the strip of wax

Step 2

Pick up each diamond by pressing the applicator to the diamond’s rounded, faceted side

Step 3

Apply each diamond to the adhesive canvas template, placing it based on the color-coded chart
