Since Laurie’s grandmother gave her a set of Japanese watercolors as a kid, she’s been armed and dangerous in creative pursuits. Her original childhood goal was wildlife painter, and in the early 90s partly fulfilled that by making a living as an animal portraitist. After graduating from Parson’s, she has mostly been in commercial art – developing the art side of brands, advertising, and overall marketing. A few years ago, she became more and more immersed in 3-D illustration from a technical as well as artistic side, and so does less branding and traditional ad work. Laurie lives with her partner Bill on a small ranch in Northern Colorado, with some cool cats and a couple of gorgeous (and uniquely colored) cavalry-bred Morgans. Laurie loves international travel, especially of the scuba diving and safari type, and remains fascinated by big cats and birds of prey.

It is not that dark as it appears in the photos. Great drills and the colors are beautiful.

Beautiful artwork and the colors turn out very nice. I enhanced this with more sparkle in the horn and in the fur of the unicorn, since I had the feeling that there could be a quite a bit more special "blink" to this motive. It was a lot of fun to work on this, but beware of the right part of the canvas that is color blocking with mostly dark colors.

This turned out ok.
Cons: I had loads of drills left for some parts (a full packet of one colour but then I ran out of one colour by about 50 drills). There seems to be lots of the ABs on one side of the picture compared to the other side and I didn't like the way the bird on the far right was coloured compared to the other birds.
Pros: That been said, as my first DAC picture - I loved the quality of the canvas and the drills. The horse itself turned out amazing!

Another one of Laurie Prindle’s art pieces. This unicorn is 37” X 20” (94 cm X 51 cm), with 52 colors including 3 Aurora Borealis for a total of 74,769 diamonds. It has some beautiful purples mixed with other beautiful colors. I haven’t worked this one yet because I’m working on another Diamond Art Club’s paintings but can’t wait to work on it. Their drills and canvases are a pleasure to work with and you feel like a true artist when you’re done.
