I just finished working on Astronomy Witch, and overall I really enjoyed it.
The canvas has a lot of colour-blocking areas, and there are only 21 colours to work with. Since I noticed that lighter colours tend to show imperfections more easily than darker colours, I tried out my Forever Young zig-zag ruler, and it helped a lot with keeping my drills straight. Using the ruler definitely slowed things down, but with the size of the painting, I already expected it would take about two months to finish. I also wasn’t a big fan of the translucent dress in the original image, so I decided to take it out. There were plenty of extra drills, so I didn’t run out of any colours. By the time I was done I had definitely had my fill of purple so I’m planning to move on to a more colourful canvas next. Although Cat Schemes has been looking very tempting from my stash, so I might end up jumping into another similar colour palette after all.
