James A. Meger couldn’t remember a time in his life that he didn’t want to be an artist. His rural upbringing and his love of nature were the inspirations for his paintings and he often dreamed of combining these loves with a career. After completing his B.F.A., James served as a combat officer in Vietnam for 14 months. Eventually, he ended up teaching back in Minnesota, but he still dreamed of painting. With a lot of outside encouragement, he gave up teaching and six weeks later won the Minnesota State Duck Stamp Competition for 1980. His career took off from that point garnering numerous awards including over 15 Best of Show and Popular Choice awards at major national shows around the country. James died of cancer on August 25, 2011 and is survived by his wife, Laurene; and daughter, Elise.

American Eagle is the name on the kit. Took me about 4 months in my spare time. Had it framed with a mat of a purple hue which really brings out the coloring in some of the wing shading and the mountains in the back. Everyone who comes in just loves this one.

I purchased this canvas in early 2024 with the intention as a gift for my brother; He's an Eagle Scout Rank with BSA. It was my largest project to take on at the time of completing it. It took me quite awhile to complete since I was relatively new to dp. I learned by completing this project that I was not a fan of the color blocking (it's in the sky area). Lesson learned going forward for sure! Haha
My "but" is due to a rendering issue I found within the eagles right wing (left side of image). The purple mountain colors where in the feathers of the wing when they should not be. I had to do some hand recharting; that was a first for me too.
Overall review: beautiful image, ok render, quality of canvas and square resin drills were great. Would recommend to a skilled diamond painter.
